Nevada is a city in Collin County, Texas, United States. The population was 822 at the 2010 census.First settled in 1835 by John McMinn Stambaugh and named "McMinn nChapel", the area was settled by Granville Stinebaugh, who named it nafter the Nevada Territoryn (the local pronunciation, though, has the second syllable as "vay"). nNevada enjoyed some prosperity after becoming a stop on the St. Louis Southwestern Railway, and the town incorporated in 1889. n

Farmersville originated in 1849 as a settlement on the nJefferson-McKinney Road, and near Republic of Texas National Road. The nsettlement was named by pioneers William Pickney Chapman & John nHendrex for their chief occupation.n After 1854, the Yearys and their neighbors of Sugar Hill (2 miles nnortheast) began relocating here. Dr. H.M. Markham, practicing here by n1855, is said to have been Collin County's earliest physician. The firstn Methodist Churchn was organized in 1856. William Gotcher on March 4, 1859, donated land nfor the public square. A school was operating as early as the 1860s. Then first Baptist Church was organized on May 14, 1865
